Find what's free near you.
Giveloa is a global discovery guide for people who would rather find something useful, interesting or enjoyable for free. We bring together free events, activities, cultural experiences, community programs, samples, food opportunities, books and other no-cost local finds in one place.
The idea is simple: free should be easier to discover. Instead of searching through dozens of event calendars, social posts and local websites, Giveloa aims to give people a cleaner starting point for finding what is actually available nearby.
Why we built Giveloa
There are thousands of genuinely free things happening in cities every week, but they are often scattered across government websites, libraries, museums, community organizations, event calendars and individual organizers. Many are useful but easy to miss.
Giveloa exists to make that information easier to discover without turning it into a giant, low-quality list. We care more about useful listings and trustworthy sources than simply publishing as many pages as possible.
What you can find here
- Free events — festivals, community events, talks and public gatherings.
- Free activities — classes, workshops, tours and things to do.
- Free culture — museums, exhibitions, libraries and public programs.
- Free food and samples — legitimate no-cost food opportunities and tastings.
- Free books and useful resources — community resources, book events and other practical finds.
- Local discoveries — recurring programs and neighborhood opportunities that are easy to overlook.
Where our information comes from
Whenever possible, we start with first-party sources: city and government websites, museums, libraries, public institutions, organizers and official event pages. Each listing is connected to its original source so you can check the latest details yourself.
Free offers can change quickly. Dates can move, registration can close, capacity can fill up and organizers can change eligibility requirements. That is why source links and verification dates are an important part of how Giveloa works.
How Giveloa decides what belongs
We look for a clear reason an item is genuinely free. A page mentioning an event is not enough on its own. Where the information is ambiguous, we prefer to leave an item out or review it before publishing rather than make a guess.
We also distinguish between a genuinely free opportunity and an offer that requires a purchase, membership, paid ticket or other significant condition. If an event has optional paid upgrades but free attendance is clearly available, the listing should explain that distinction.
We are building Giveloa city by city
Giveloa is designed to grow internationally, but quality matters more than pretending every city already has the same coverage. We would rather have a smaller number of useful, source-backed listings than thousands of thin or outdated pages.
As the directory grows, we are building a system that can regularly check official sources, refresh listings, remove expired opportunities and expand coverage across more cities.
How the directory is updated
Giveloa combines editorial review with scheduled checks of selected official sources. For supported sources, dedicated parsers can extract the event name, date, venue, official link and explicit free-status signal instead of simply searching a page for the word “free”.
Those automated records are refreshed through GitHub Actions and published through our static site deployment. Ambiguous records can be held for review, and expired opportunities are removed from the active view. This lets Giveloa scale coverage while keeping the source-first standard intact.
Can you contribute?
Absolutely. If you know about a free event, class, community service, sample, cultural program or other worthwhile local opportunity, send it to us with the original source URL. We review submissions before adding them to the active directory.
What Giveloa is not
Giveloa is a discovery and information service. We are not the organizer, venue, seller or provider of the opportunities listed here. We cannot guarantee admission, availability, inventory, eligibility, schedules or last-minute changes.
Before travelling or relying on an offer, check the original source. If you spot something that is outdated or incorrect, please tell us so we can investigate.
Our approach
We want Giveloa to feel useful, human and trustworthy — not like an automated directory filled with generic pages. That means clear sources, useful descriptions, sensible city coverage and a willingness to remove information when it is no longer reliable.
